[Wactclc-alma] Fix for "Item Search in Amazon" using CZ records

In the the Oct. 24 call, I had a question about the Item Search in Amazon feature-- we use it to create brief bibs with POLs at the point of order to save time for our acquisitions staff.

Naoko mentioned that they had stopped using this feature at Highline because Alma was defaulting to using E-book bib records for a lot of the titles ordered this way. We ran into this too, and I discovered that the problem had to do with Alma finding a CZ ebook record with the same ISBN as the print book and using the CZ ebook record as the default bib.

I thought I'd filed a case about this, but I hadn't. Instead, I found a case that Portland Community College filed on a related topic (SF# 00034987). I was able to use the solution in that case to stop Alma from using CZ ebook records in conjunction with Item Search in Amazon.

Specifically, in

Alma Menu > Resource Management > Configuration Menu > Other Settings (Old UI)
Alma Configuration > Resources > General > Other Settings (New UI)

There's a line for:

ignore_cz_coverage

Make sure that the parameter value for that line is set as "true"

Note that this is a global setting that affects all Repository imports. I personally couldn't think of any situation where we would want to use CZ records as the default bib. I mean, if I'm going to the trouble of importing bib records it's because there's nothing adequate in Alma to begin with. And if I want to use a CZ record, I'll just activate a collection or portfolio directly rather than using an import process. YMMV.

In any case, setting the parameter for ignore_cz_coverage to "true" has fixed the problem for us. Now when we use Items Search in Amazon to create brief bibs and POLs, we don't end up with bib records for ebooks.

Hope this helps!

It will be ok!
