[Wactclc-alma] Problem with Overdue and Lost notifications

Thanks, that makes sense in terms of why the person wasn't getting the notices. Not sure about the email address. I'll look into that.

I will remember about posting names/IDs for future reference. I wanted to make sure you had the example I was basing my question on so you had all the information to test the issue and I didn't have to send it in another email.

Thanks,
Stephanie

If I look at that user (and just FYI, I wouldn't post student names and ID's to this list, especially both of them), the email address creation date is 11/3/2017

So, my guess is that the user didn't have an email address at the time the relevant notices job ran (11/1 or 11/2)

In general, your job history indicates that overdue and lost notices are going out successfully.

So, I think this is a case of lack of email address in the user record at the time the notice should have been sent.

You'd have to check with the SMS folks to figure out what the email address was just added to the student record.

Hi,

I had a student come up today that said she never received an overdue notice letter for some videos she had overdue. I went into her account attachments activities and that's correct. I didn't see where it had sent any type of overdue notice or a courtesy notice that says her materials were coming due.

When I looked at Letter Activity Mapping Table, I see that our FulOverdueandLostLoanLetter and FulOVerdueAndLostLoanNotification are both enabled.

I noticed the FulUserLoansCourtesyLetter was disabled, so I just now enabled it.

I'm just curious as to why our overdue notices aren't getting sent to students if the letters and notifications are enabled.

The person I helped is Ellingson, L. 835095803

Thanks for your help with this.

Hi Tammy,

The overdue notice (that is the overdue notice that is controlled by the Overdue and Lost Loan policies) is Overdue and Lost Loan Notification Letter.

The lost notice (controlled by the Overdue and Lost Loan policies) is Overdue and Lost Loan Letter.

Note: I point out that these are controlled by the Overdue and Lost Loan Policy because there are other notices that run independently...that is, they are controlled by separate jobs.

Both of these letters are activated in the Letter Activities list.

Your Lost policies (in Overdue and Lost Loan Policies) look okay-all user groups, locations, item types appear to be covered.

One thing that can prevent a lost notice from going out (and any other notice, for that matter) is the absence of an email address.

Any chance the user you're expecting to see a lost notice for is lacking an email address?

If you can send me an example or two (off list, for user privacy protection), that would help me zero in on what's happening.

Shellie,

The overdue notices are going out when they are supposed to but the bills for lost items are not going out. Could you check that for me?

Also, which letter is used for overdue notices and which letter is used for lost items?

Hi Tammy,

Set the days after due date to zero (0).

The Overdue and Lost Loan Job runs daily at 11:00pm, so as long as the item is due before 11pm, the notice will go out that night.

Your Overdue and Lost Loan policies are set to use "open days" rather than just "days." This explains why the summer session notices did not go out until you were open again after the break.

I am having a problem with overdue notices being sent a day late. For example, a student laptop was due 9/25/17 at 21:00 but the overdue notice was not sent until 9/26/17 at 23:00. If I change the Overdue and Lost Loan Profile Record to 0 days after due date, will the overdue notice go out the same night something becomes overdue - or will it prevent overdue notices from going out at all?

Also, overdue and lost notices for items due the last day of summer session were not sent out until school started again in September. The library was closed that whole time. The notices should have gone out the week after summer quarter ended. Any ideas?
