Just a note on this discussion...

Remember that, by itself, an 'end of term' date set in your calendar won't actually do anything by itself.

You need to *then* create a due date policy that *uses that calendar event* as the due date. *then*, any item checked out that is captured by a TOU that uses that due date policy will have a due date set accordingly.

(Tria, wasn't sure if you were already doing this, so I thought I'd mention it.)

Below is a screenshot of a Pierce TOU that uses just such a due date.

And also, a screen shot of the due date policy definition for end of quarter. As you can see, it's set to a 'fixed' due date, and uses the calendar event defined for end of quarter.

Also, as Xinhang points out, patron expiration dates can truncate due dates as well (can't check out items past your expiration date). So, if you expire patrons on your quarter end date, that would truncate the checkout period.

And finally, good point by Lesley, those calendar events (probably for technical reasons), aren't recognized by the fulfillment configuration utility. So if you use that for testing fulfillment rules, take those results with a grain of salt.

Could it be that the patron expiration date a factor that makes the due date 3/22/17 instead of 4/3/17?

Thank you Lesley!

We did have the end of the term added to the calendar and when checking out books to students today (three week checkout), the due date was 3-27-17.

However, I did add Spring Break to our calendar based on your screenshot and now things are working as expected (due date 3-22-17).  So thank you especially for the screenshot!!!

As an aside.  These items have "move forward" defined in their TOU tables so it seems like the due date should actually be 4-3-17, anyone know why my thinking is wrong there?

I am also super confused/frustrated by this.

We have an "End of Winter Quarter" Event in our Alma calendar, and yet, books with three-week checkouts are now due 4/3.

Hello All -

I'm probably missing something super easy, but....

In Voyager we were able to set due dates to be a specific time period (three weeks, one week, whatever the standard was for that item) or end of term, whichever was sooner, so that as we approached the end of the quarter items almost all items would check out with a due date of the last day of finals.

We have items that check out with an end of term due date but that's different than this conundrum in that those items are always due the last day of the term even if they are checked out on the first day of the quarter.  I was thinking we might need to approach this by putting in a longer closing period in our calendar but the TOU for most items is set to give them the lengthened due date (which we don't want to neccesarily change) and would then make things due on the first day of next quarter.

So, am I missing something easy?
