I'm just back from a week off and it was so nice to come back to work and have the answer to my problem. Thank you all for the help! I will work on having the Primo normalization rules configured differently.

And for those interested, I'm including the text of Hannah's SF case 430882 below, if you would like to or need to open a similar case.

Lynn, it could be that the additional subject headings that you see are not due that that 'see also' issue I described, but just the way your Primo normalization rules are currently configured.

You cannot change the Primo normalization rules yourself. But  you can just open a ticket similar to Hannah's.

Hello, In the Primo record for the book March by John Lewis - https://wactc-greenriver-primo.hosted.exlibrisgroup.com/primo-explore/fulldisplay?docid=GREENRIVER_ALMA2113799750002812&context=L&vid=GREENRIVER_V1&search_scope=EVERYTHING&tab=default_tab&lang=en_US - my attention was drawn to the bottom half of the subjects list, where there are several entries preceded by the letter 'g'. Going to look at this record in Alma to see why there are random 'g's there (MMS ID 992505723402812), I see that these subject terms do not in fact exist in the record. Where are these subject terms coming from and how can I get rid of them? Thank you!

Hi Natalia, It seems to be coming not from the 650 in the bib record - I don't have w subfields in those - but rather from the w subfield of the 550 in the authority records that the 650s are linked to. If you could adjust the rules to exclude the w subfield as you suggested, that would be great! Thank you!

Hi Hannah, Examining the rules in Primo and the data in the source record from Alma, shows that these subjects come from the MARC field 650 in Alma record. The 'g' presents in 650 subfield w, and according to Primo rules, it's pulled in to the Subject field. I can adjust the rules to exclude the subfield w from the subject, so please let me know if this filed should be removed. Thank you, Natalia

Kathy et al.,

When we had this problem too, I tried republishing our records and it didn't help. I actually just finally got around to closing my Salesforce case on this today, but if you look at the case I had, 00430882, Natalia said that it had to do with Primo's rules, and she changed the rules to exclude subfield w from the subjects. I don't know if that's something you can do yourself or if they have to do it, but if you want to open a case with them you can reference mine.

I have the same problem as Lynn and cannot find any reference to the link below that you referred Lynn Robinson too on the subject of  Problem with See Also References showing up in Primo that Dale posted on June 15th or so.
Also I have watched the videos on authority records and still do not understand how to stop the mess with the "w and g's" showing up in Primo.

I need help.

There was a related thread last month...around June 15th, I think.

Some of the See Also references Dale talks about have the $w g.

We have a lot of records that are displaying 650s with a subfield w that has the letter g in that subfield (the w is not a valid subfield for 650.) I can't figure out where these 650's are coming from but nevertheless it is my job to clean them up.
