Reporting to the Assistant Secretary for the Division of Health Systems Quality Assurance (HSQA), the Deputy Assistant Secretary for Policy directs and manages the policy and legislative development functions for the division.  This position plays a key strategic role in the development of the division policy, budget and legislative initiative and programs.  The Deputy Assistant Secretary for Policy acts on behalf of the HSQA Assistant Secretary in policy and legislative development functions, and has supervisory responsibility in the absence of the Assistant Secretary and the Deputy Assistant Secretary.  This position is located in Tumwater, Washington.

The Deputy Assistant Secretary for Policy directs the research, planning, implementation and management of complex projects and initiatives; directs and oversees the development of complex reports; and uses results of quality assurance activities to make changes and recommendations to improve efficiency and effectiveness of operations, reliability of financial and operating reporting systems, compliance with applicable legal requirements, stewardship of public resources, and to minimize exposure to risk events.
