<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="color:black">I’d like to mention more about IMS Global and who might be interested. The focus of IMS Global tends to be technical, of most interest to those analyzing, planning, and implementing technologies.
</span>If your role is primarily faculty, then IMS might not be of much interest. However, library, eLearning, academic deans and administrators, and IT would benefit greatly by participation. <o:p></o:p></p>

<p class="MsoNormal">But first, SBCTC has obtained an IMS Global Contributing membership for all WA CTCs. This allows ANY faculty or staff member to sign up for an account at IMS Global to take advantage of webinars and resources associated with multiple educational
technology standards such as LTI and Open Badges.<o:p></o:p></p>

<p class="MsoNormal">You are invited to a Zoom meeting which will provide an overview of the IMS Global membership benefits and the various initiatives that are in progress.

<h2>About IMS Global<span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif"><o:p></o:p></span></h2>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="color:black">The most famous standard managed by IMS is LTI, Learning Tools Integration, a standard that is used everywhere. Almost all the software applications that work in Canvas use one form or another of the LTI standard. <o:p></o:p></span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="color:black">In 2018, IMS Global also took over the Mozilla Open Badges standard and developed the Open Badges 2.0 standard which is now the basis of all open badges (estimated to be up to 12 million worldwide).

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="color:black">IMS Global ILN’s, <a href="https://site.imsglobal.org/about/groups/iln/hed">
Innovative Learning Networks</a>, are similar to Communities of Practice. ILN’s are designed to provide a productive networking model for non-technical professionals to work together in meaningful ways to discuss pressing issues, share ideas, and build successful
community-focused solutions that have local impact. The ILN’s most relevant for non-technical faculty and staff at the CTC’s include:<o:p></o:p></span></p>

</span></span></span><![endif]>The Digital Credentials network is focused on advancing the interoperability standards needed to support lifelong learning utilizing micro-credentials and open badges to verify skills and competencies. It also is concerned with
providing implementation best practices for extending the traditional transcript to digitally reflect a comprehensive record of achievement, and enabling the integration and transferability of high-value digital credentials.<o:p></o:p></p>
