<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="color:#1F497D">SBCTC and the system never procured Zoom and we do not have a direct support relationship with them at the system level. As a member of the K20 network, we have access to a portion of the licenses allocated
to K20 by Zoom a few years ago. K20 and Zoom have been generous about raising that allocation a couple of times to try to address our needs.<o:p></o:p></span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="color:#1F497D">Colleges heard about the pilot and asked for these licenses to be allocated out, but the agreement is between K20 network and Zoom and the original project was, to my understanding, largely K12 focused.

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="color:#1F497D">Those allocations are nominally managed on campuses usually by a designated “Zoom admin”, most likely someone in your local IT department. They likely don’t have additional information at this point either. Some
colleges have a combination of licenses they’ve purchased directly from Zoom and the K20 licenses.<o:p></o:p></span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="color:black">Aryana suggested I provide an update to this group on the status of Zoom license allocation from K20. I know this is important information and that we’re all facing a rocky budget forecast and that it’s frustrating
not to have definitive information by now.<o:p></o:p></span></p>

<p class="xxmsonormal"><span style="font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif;color:black">It’s frustrating not to be able to be more definitive, and I apologize. I check in frequently with Grant Rodeheaver, SBCTC CIO, and I think he expected to have
learned more by now K20 is negotiating with Zoom on an extension of the current pro licenses and K20 is optimistic that can be accomplished. Zoom has said that “they won’t leave us hanging”, which is encouraging but of course not that useful in budget planning.
It’s unfortunate to be in a position where colleges had to become so committed so quickly to a product that the system doesn’t support directly, but here we are.</span><span style="color:black"><o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="xxmsonormal"><span style="font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif;color:black"> </span><span style="color:black"><o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="xxmsonormal"><span style="font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif;color:black">The ideal scenario is that current Zoom license allocations would roll over into a relationship between Zoom and a given college (not us and K20) and that Zoom
would continue to offer those licenses and the opportunity to purchase more at K20 pricing. The second best would be an extension/expansion of the current K20 allocation. My guess (and just a guess) is that K20 would like to get out of their mediating position
in all of this and turn those relationships over to the colleges. This was meant as a two year pilot and it’s kind of spiraled out of scope because current demand.

<p class="xxmsonormal"><span style="font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif;color:black">Another thing our team is working on and one that we have somewhat more control over: we realize that everyone is using Panopto to caption and store Zoom videos.
We’ve always been over our storage limits but it’s been manageable. Recently we’ve been absorbing
<i>very</i> high overage fees for storage because usage has spiked dramatically and has been increasing at between 4% and 20% per week in some cases. We’re attempting to get a one-year, unlimited storage and support option with Panopto – that would mean colleges
would have no worries about limits and could extend Panopto usage indefinitely for both instructional and administrative uses. It’s not sustainable for us, but we could manage it for a year and then ask the colleges to assess the value of that and their capacity
to absorb the percentage of the contract related to unlimited storage.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
