a practicing librarian to share the load. I have tenure here and the faculty behave as if that gives me faculty status.

<p class="x_MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:11.0pt; font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif; color:#1F497D">That said, it is my position that I want to keep the faculty status of librarians strong. I resist suggestions that we hire librarians in positions where
they do the work of librarians, but do not have the rank or status. Part of my rationale is that I want librarians to work from a position of equality with teaching faculty on pedagogical issues. Another rationale is the moral issue of conferring on those
who teach students the respect and privileges their education and training deserve.</span></p>

under the current contract would not teach any sessions (unless I was hired separately, which is possible) as an associate librarian. Both our full time and part time librarians teach these sessions. </span></p>
