<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif;color:#1F497D">Our most successful BAS/library situation has been in Applied Behavioral Science, our first BAS program. The library was involved in program proposal and development
from its early stages, and as a result, we have an established upper division contextualized information literacy course (ABS330, 5 credits) taught twice a year by a librarian. Students in the program routinely comment on the value of the course. IL is further
integrated and reinforced in other courses. One of the benefits of this arrangement is that the ABS students develop a close bond with the library where they often seek support from librarians and collaboration with their peers. This program also has received
annual funds for databases, books, and librarian support (in the form of release time).<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif;color:#1F497D"><o:p> </o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif;color:#1F497D">We’ve met some challenges with more recent BAS programs in ensuring that promised funds are allocated, though so far, we receive funding by insisting on it: databases
will disappear without subscription support. We’ve had good funding for start-up collections, but ongoing funds are uncertain. I also worry about raising the overall level of the collections to support upper division gen ed courses as we add them.<o:p></o:p></span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif;color:#1F497D">Instruction also requires vigilance: Our newest program, IT Networking, does not include an IL course inside within the 60 required courses. Instead, the program
includes an “elective” with information literacy content. The course is currently under development, but we worry about whether it will be used.
