<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:11.5pt;font-family:"Times New Roman","serif"">Washington currently receives about $3.2M annually to support statewide library programming, including the Washington Talking Book & Braille Library, the services provided
in nine Washington state prison libraries and over $1 million in grants, resources and services provided directly to local community libraries.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:11.5pt;font-family:"Times New Roman","serif""><o:p> </o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:11.5pt;font-family:"Times New Roman","serif"">You may not be aware that LSTA funding supports many services provided to community and technical colleges around the state. One example is the statewide database licensing
program, where the State Library has negotiated a consortial rate for Proquest online databases. We have heard personally from college librarians that they would not be able to afford the price of such valuable resources were it not for the highly subsidized
price they pay as a result of our service. <o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:11.5pt;font-family:"Times New Roman","serif""><o:p> </o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:11.5pt;font-family:"Times New Roman","serif"">LSTA funds continue to provide long-term support to CTC libraries, first to develop an information literacy curriculum and now an open access curriculum both of which
are vital to the CTC community’s mission, preparing students for what comes after graduation. Our State Librarian participates in Library Leadership Council meetings, and one CTC dean serves on the State Library’s advisory committee. In total, over $1,125,000
has been expended with LSTA funding in the past 10 years that directly supports your staff and programming.

benefits of having our colleagues working on OER, although we have not actively participated in that project. We participated in Boopsie, and though we didn’t continue, it was helpful to have the opportunity to try it.
