<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="color:#1F497D">At Highline College we count on $20,000 in Perkins funds annually to purchase library materials (standing orders and specialized databases) for professional/technical programs including paralegal and nursing.
We would not be able to support those programs as effectively without access to Perkins funds, as many of the legal standing orders are quite expensive and we don’t have sufficient funding in our library materials budgets.
<o:p></o:p></span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="color:#1F497D">While I think that a broad interpretation of “instructional materials” certainly includes library resources, I think it is important that library resources be included in the bill language. I’m almost surprised
that this is a question. <u>Of course</u> the ALA Washington Office should be advocating for this language to be retained. I appreciate Kara asking for input on this issue.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
