[LIBRARYDIR] Student-bought replacements

Per our IT department, students may not replace technology on their own. I believe it's to ensure tech safety, compatibility etc.

As for the physical collection, I think it depends on the item. Our physical collection leans toward the older side and we wouldn't necessarily want certain lost items replaced with the same item. However I don't think we have a written policy specifically addressing this issue.

Subject: [LIBRARYDIR] Student-bought replacements

Hello and happy Friday!

When a student loses a library item, do you allow them to provide a replacement on their own if it's an exact replacement? For example, a student who loses a Chromebook charger ($30 replacement cost at our library), offering to replace it with a new one they found on Amazon for $15?

Thanks and have a wonderful weekend all!
