<div>What I do know is that looking at the credits we teach, we are also credited with .75 per lab hour. For example, most of our classes are 6 credits, with 3 hours of lecture and 4 hours of lab, 7 hours total. We are credited with 3 credit hours for 3 hours
of lecture, and 3 credit hours for 4 hours of lab.
<p class="x_MsoNormal">When it comes to load, this gets more complicated because we don’t calculate load based strictly on number of credits. Below is the contract language for that portion. In my mind, we are actually penalized further when calculating our
load. Since we only get 6 credits for 7 hours, our load is further reduced by having a load factor of .957 instead of 1. We are shorted 4.3% of that time.</p>

Hello FACTC members,<br>

Many years ago, FACTC had a discussion about science lecture-lab parity; if I recall correctly, there were no 2 year colleges in the state with lecture-lab parity. Could you please answer a question about lecture-lab parity in science classes at your college?<br>
<br>
At Green River College, we do not have lecture-lab parity in the sciences; faculty receive 0.75 credit toward our load for each 1 hour spent teaching a lab class, compared to 1.0 credit for each 1 hour spent in lecture class. For example, our 5 credit BIOL&100
class meets for 4 hours of lecture and 2 hours of lab each week; when calculating quarterly loads, faculty receive 4 credits (4 hrs/week) for the lecture component and 1.5 credits (2 hrs/week) for the lab component.<br>

Could you please ask your science faculty and respond to the following question?<br>
<br>
At your college, do science faculty receive equal credit for teaching lecture and lab classes; that is, is there lecture-lab parity?<br>
If NOT, assuming 1 hour of lecture = 1.0 credit toward a faculty member's load, how much credit is received for 1 hour spent teaching a lab class?<br>

Clark College's English Department wishes to propose our 3-credit literature courses be changed to 5-credit courses. In order to make our case, we would appreciate the following information:<br>

1) How many credits are your literature courses?<br>

2) What types of writing assignments are required: response papers, journals, literary analysis?<br>
<br>
3) Is any research or discussion of literary theory part of your 100 or 200 level literature courses?<br>

Clark College's English Department is also considering a revision to you communication general education requirement. Currently all DTA students are required to take both English 101 and English 102. What is the communication requirement at your college?<br>
