<p>At Shoreline we have faculty mentors for new tenure track faculty. There is a $1000 stipend for the year for the mentor. Here is the announcement with criteria that was sent last Fall:</p>

<div>FACULTY MENTORS</div>
<div>Start Date: Fall Quarter 2015</div>
<div>Division: Academic & Student Affairs</div>
<div>The Position: Faculty Mentors are needed to work with new faculty, assisting them in adapting to our college and</div>
<div>community and helping them understand our teaching environment. Up to five new full-time tenure-track faculty</div>
<div>for the 2015-2016 academic year may be assigned to one mentor. Full mentoring duties will begin during Fall</div>
<div>Quarter 2015, continue through Winter Quarter 2016, and be completed by the end of Spring Quarter 2016.</div>
<div>Duties will include:</div>
<div> A minimum of three individual meetings with each faculty member assigned</div>
<div> Participation in new faculty orientation (Opening Week or Fall Quarter, as scheduled)</div>
<div> Participation in mentor program evaluation</div>
<div> Any additional responsibilities as mutually agreed upon by Federation President and Vice President for</div>
<div>Academic and Student Affairs.</div>
<div>QUALIFICATIONS</div>
<div>REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:</div>
<div>1. Current full-time tenured faculty member at Shoreline Community College.</div>
<div>2. Evidence of strong communication skills.</div>
<div>3. Evidence of excellent teaching.</div>
<div>4. Evidence of success in the faculty role.</div>
<div>CRITERIA FOR SELECTION:</div>
<div>1. Teaching skills and knowledge of the institution.</div>
<div>2. Demonstrated interest in working with new faculty.</div>
<div>3. Demonstrated ability to connect with others.</div>
<div>4. Broad representation across instructional divisions.</div>
<div>5. Consistently available to provide information and assistance.</div>
<div>NOTE: Faculty Mentors will be selected from outside the new faculty’s administrative unit. Faculty Mentors are not</div>
<div>eligible to serve on that new faculty’s Appointment Review Committee.</div>
<div>APPLICATION PROCEDURE</div>
<div>Please submit a written statement containing the following to HR by 4:30 p.m. on FRIDAY OCTOBER 9, 2015</div>
<div>a. Applicant’s ability to meet the stated qualifications;</div>
<div>b. Applicant’s reasons for applying for the position; and</div>
<div>c. Applicant’s suggestions/ideas for effective new faculty mentoring.</div>
