Subject:     REMINDER: Legacy HP-UX Sunsetting Aug. 31, 2023

Dear college community:
After 42 years of service, the Legacy HP-UX (Hewlett Packard Unix) environment shutdown is only two weeks away.  HP Legacy environments and systems will be sunsetted on August 31, 2023, as detailed in previous systemwide messages on Feb. 8 and May 30, 2023 (attached as FYI).
Final activities include Legacy data backup file transfers to colleges, and Legacy Transcript validation and testing. See highlights below.
Timeline
Initial plans were to launch the new LegacyLink and Legacy Transcript applications in April, followed by Legacy shutdown on June 30, 2023. However, to accommodate the need for colleges to get familiar with the applications, cross-check, and validate data, the official HP-UX shutdown was extended to August 31.
Legacy Database Backup Files
SBCTC IT is working with each college directly to securely transfer their Legacy HP-UX data backup SQL file. To date, 24 colleges have accepted their Legacy data files.
LegacyLink
The LegacyLink<https://www.sbctc.edu/colleges-staff/it-support/legacy-applications/legacylink/> application provides secure access to users to a limited set of read-only screens and batch reports needed to continue critical business. The application went live on June 30, 2023, and includes display-only access to screens and reports in Financial Management System (FMS), Payroll/Personnel Management System (PPMS), and Student Management System (SMS)
Future release notes

  *   The colleges and the Legacy Projects Advisory Group have requested new screens which are slated to be added by end of September 2023 (or sooner) in the next release.   *   Colleges will continue to submit tickets for product enhancements.

Legacy Transcript
The Legacy Transcript<https://www.sbctc.edu/colleges-staff/it-support/legacy-applications/legacy-transcript-project/> application is the repository for those student transcripts currently stored in the Legacy HP-UX system which were not converted into ctcLink during the colleges’ conversion to PeopleSoft.
Legacy Transcript began a soft launch on June 30. Colleges have participated in validation activities and have been asked to complete the Legacy Transcription - College Validation Sign-Off<https://forms.office.com/r/4jPdAVcvGq> by no later than end of business Friday, August 18, to affirm they have completed this work.
All critical fixes will be made in advance of colleges going live on the Legacy Transcript application starting next week, from Aug. 21 to 31, 2023.
Please note, students will not have login access due to security concerns.
Future release notes

  *   Colleges will continue to submit service tickets to improve the product.
  *   The transcript format will be refined after the initial go-live.

Other Legacy Products

  *   The Web Transaction Server (WTS) applications will be retired when HP-UX sunsets. In Legacy, WTS provided self-service online functionality for students and faculty (e.g., Unofficial Transcript, Class Schedule, Instructor Briefcase, Earnings and Leave inquiry).
  *   DataExpress will no longer be available as that product relies on the HP-UX platform.
  *   Financial Aid Management (FAM) will continue to be available for the foreseeable future as it does not rely on the HP-UX system.

Message Received Only Once When Sent to Multiple Mail Lists: A message sent to multiple lists is received only once by members using Microsoft Exchange Server and MS-Outlook. For example, if a systemwide message is sent to 30 lists, and you are a member of 10 of those lists, you will receive the message only once rather than 10 times.
