My dear friends,

During this free, one hour, live, online-event, open to all, you will learn about a powerful methodology developed in post-apartheid South Africa to help diverse groups of people

  * get to decisions that are clear and
  * where more people feel real ownership (not just buy-in)

See more details from Paul Horton, the facilitator, below.

This session will further develop some of the core ideas Paul introduced in his first webinar: Turning Tensions & Conflict into Growth & Creative Engagement<https://bit.ly/3ddXuAc>. I was so happy to see many folks from our Washington State CTC system at Paul's first training.

One of my dreams is that enough people are intrigued enough by the core concepts of deep democracy that we could have follow-up conversations about how these concepts like "the Lewis Resistance Line<https://bit.ly/3dk0RWy>" might change our shared work.

In this second webinar, he's going to cover one of my favorites: "Inviting the No."

Peace,

Jen

PS: I hope to see many of you at this second training ... if only so you will say "No!" to me! 🙂

Making Decisions that Bring Others Along: Embracing ‘No’ for Better Decision Making

Tuesday, May 12 at 9:30am PDT

Are you dealing with more indecision in these challenging times?

Learn about a powerful methodology developed in post-apartheid South Africa that helps diverse groups of people get to decisions that are clear and where more people feel real ownership (not just buy-in).

This is a free, one hour, live, online-event, open to all. Please forward to others.
Register Here: https://bit.ly/2KW6qOy

This talk builds on what Paul covered in his last webinar on the topic Turning Tensions & Conflict into Growth & Creative Engagement (you can view a recording here<https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1_7sOW7rpvk&t=1481s>).

More

We’ve all experienced our fair share of discussions or meetings where some or all of the following have occurred:

  * Certain individuals dominated the discussion and there was a lack of genuine exchange and engagement
  * Discussion tended to cover well-worn topics and there was a lack of creativity and innovation
  * Past decisions were revisited without resolution and little or no apparent progress was made
  * The emergence of inevitable tensions or meaningful differences of opinion derailed the process
  * There was a lack ownership and accountability in the decision(s)

These outcomes are all more likely when real differences, tensions, or conflict are present. Working remotely makes getting to clear decisions-- where everyone feels real ownership-- even more of a challenge.

You’ll learn how to:

  * ensure that the purpose of every meeting is clear to all involved
  * engage in a genuine exchange of ideas to inform wise decision making
  * pick up on the early signs of resistance to the discussion and reduce the likelihood that differences of opinion will turn into conflicts that might derail the process
  * come to decisions where everyone involved can get on board

There will also be time for questions and answers.
