Subject: COVID 19 and the 2020 ATL Conference

Friends and Colleagues,

To make the most enlightened decision about the upcoming 2020 Assessment, Teaching, and Learning Conference<http://bit.ly/2020atlc>, scheduled for May 6-8, 2020, the Assessment, Teaching, and Learning office (aka Bill, Jackie, and I) are closely monitoring the most current information regarding COVID 19 from a variety of internal and external sources.

The two deciding factors will be

  1. The safety and health of presenters, participants, and SBCTC staff
  2. The most ethical and morally responsible decision in terms of playing our role in eliminating the spread of the virus.

At this point, we have delayed registration for the conference as we are consider 3 options:

  * Continue with the F2F conference in Lynnwood as scheduled. Obviously, we will only do this if we are in alignment with recommendations from the governor and other leadership entities.
  * Hybrid: Offer a streamlined/smaller version of the F2F conference and livestream the plenary and selected concurrent sessions that lend themselves well to this format.
  * Fully Online: Offer a streamlined version of the conference fully online via Zoom.

For now, we are delaying registration and rethinking our registration processes to be more nimble and flexible.

Given the flurry of activity around COVID 19, we are extending nominations for the Assessment, Teaching, and Learning Equity Award<http://bit.ly/2SP01Iu> until Friday, March 20th, 2020.

Questions? Comments? Concerns? Don't hesitate to reach out.

With gratitude,

Jennifer

PS-- I will be sending out periodic updates to keep folks in the loop. I'm sorry I haven't reached out sooner, but I have been struggling to wrap my mind around what prudence looks like with this particular adaptive challenge.
