Friends and Colleagues:

At the risk of labeling myself as a "cool kid," (read the e-mail forwarded below for context), I'd like to encourage all of you to check out Jess Thompson's amazing course Accessibility 101: The Basics of Inclusive Design.

I am currently enrolled in this free course, and I think my recent post to FB nutshells my most significant epiphany to date:

The moment when you realize that everything... Literally everything... You've created for your entire professional career is inaccessible in some way.
Especially your slide decks.
That's what happened to me yesterday. And again today.

Another Highlight of Jess's Course
Excellent professional learning should be experiential: as you learn the concepts, you should be experiencing them too. So while you learn about Universal Design for Learners (UD), for example, you are experiencing UDL.

Hey, I Can Use this on Monday!
The best part is that you will find it immediately applicable to the artifacts you use in your professional life, no matter what your role-faculty, admin, staff. Even better, your workflow will change in ways that

a) Save you time

b) Result in better-quality documents (slide decks, word documents, PDFs)

c) Shift your pedagogy paradigm from Reactive to PROACTIVE

This is truly a 21st century professional development opportunity for 21st century educators.

Don't wait for transformation-enroll now!

Peace,

Jen
