Bob, In the past the College had a program that brought high school girls to the college and had women in different occupations come in to talk to them about their work. My daughter, Marnie Boomer Roberts is an architect and for a number of years volunteered to share her knowledge about her work with the girls. Marnie has recently taken a job at HDR which is an archetercial firm in Seattle. The attached is an invitation for Professors or really anyone interested, to join a webinar discussing challenges that nontraditional college students have and how educators are addressing them. Marnie thought some of your Professors or others may want to join this webinar. If you have other questions please contact Marnie. Thanks, Becky

Since 2016, HDR has held a series of interviews with higher education administrators, professors, students and academics called Adaptations<https://www.hdrinc.com/markets/education/higher-education/adaptations-higher-education#:~:text=Adaptations%20is%20a%20series%20of,hinders%20them%20in%20that%20effort.>, which features conversations about the changes in higher education and how institutions are adapting to these changes. Given the current landscape – the impacts of a global pandemic, issues of social justice, and a climate crisis that grows more dire every day – HDR is bringing together university stakeholders and students virtually to discuss some of these specific challenges. This is a platform for peer institutions to hear how others are thinking about and addressing these issues and to broaden the understanding of our own teams and others in the AEC industry. The next Adaptations webinar discussion will focus on nontraditional students, the impacts of the pandemic and other hurdles this population faces. This conversation that is pending is AIA/PDH accreditation may be of interest to you. There is a registration link in the email invitation below.

Virtual Adaptations: A Discussion on Nontraditional Students
Exacerbated by the pandemic, cost-of-living crisis and other issues of social justice and mental health, attending college as a nontraditional student presents challenges previously unseen on university campuses. Whether working full time, enrolling part time, having dependents/children, being of nontraditional college age or various other barriers, nontraditional students often face numerous hurdles to obtaining their education.
