Join SBCTC policy associate and historian, Melissa Williams (she/her) for a virtual lunch and learn on February 20, 2024 from 2-3pm.


Melissa will share the story of Vancouver, Washington’s African American community from 1940 to 1960. Learn about how hundreds of Black families made Southwest Washington their home during wartime, their contributions to Clark County, and what factors pushed most out of the area after the war. Their stories illuminate the ways in which policies and practices of inclusion and exclusion shape our neighborhoods and cities over decades.
