[DEOC] Capital Projects Committee

Hello DEOC
I was pulled into a committee with the SBCTC around capitol projects and needing to rethink how capital projects are scored and voted on. Attached you can see a PRR Study that shows the current list of projects cost and the history of some of the capital project work for SBCTC. I am one of the few DEOs who has been asked to score capital projects in the last few years which is why Derrell Jennings the SBCTC capital projects person asked me to serve. Over all it’s a lot of boring debates of what we can change and what we can’t change in reality to an already set allocation process.  On page 15 of the PDF Slides you can see that the current projects slotted are out until 2037.

First off, I wanted to be transparent with the DEOC, provide info from this committee, and make accessible the capital project info I am receiving.

Second, I am being asked to weigh in on how SBCTC would consider DEI components to capital projects. Right now I am creating a list of Equitable and inclusive ways that buildings or spaces could be put together. THERE ARE A LOT Of way that folks could consider putting and building in equity into spaces. So I am hoping for some feedback from this group if you have a list already or want to contribute to the list I am putting together that would be wonderful! I know I am missing a lot of items that could make a building more accessible or DEI based beyond access law regulations.
