Hello DEOC community, it was great to meet some of you in person at the meeting last Thursday.
I am wondering if you might have suggestions for two pieces of information that I am looking for.

  1. Do you have suggestions for a good local vendor to do Bystander training?
  2. Do any of you have or know of policies that are being developed at sister schools regarding protections for faculty in the context of free speech claims in classrooms?
We have students reporting faculty for discrimination when faculty, for example, stopped a student shouting that immigrants in the room should go back to where they came from.
We also have students who use free speech claims to generally shore up racist/misogynist verbal comments and to distribute racist artwork, posters or other expressions.
We've had multiple incidents and need to develop a policy around this, so I am looking for others who work on this and might have example policies or ideas.
Thank you very much.
My best,

Jennifer Wade, Ph.D.
