I can firmly say my office would be in for that!

We try to open up events through the Social Justice Center programming for other campuses, and I'd be happy to partner with folks to pool and share resources.

Consuelo-

Thanks for starting this convo. These rates track with numbers I'm seeing.

One conversation I would love to have is how we can pool resources together to make our money go further. For example, we may not all be able to bring in folks with a $15k fee but what could it look like if we collaborated on some events together? Was chatting with some folks from the education department and brought up the idea of a thematic speaker series for the year so we could plan in advance.

[Sent from outside SBCTC]

hi all!

My team has been grappling with more clarity around how much we pay facilitators and speakers. Generally, we try to meet folks where they are and pay their asking rates when we can. Some we find to be too low and out of alignment with what is equitable and we offer more than their asking. Others we feel are unjustifiably high and we ask them to get closer to what we can budget for the event.

If you all have a rough estimate of what you've been paying people, it would be super helpful as we work to outline our budgets for next year.

Rough estimates on what we've tracked are:
Restorative Justice Training Facilitator: $8000 (3-day in-person workshop) +. travel from DC
Workshop speaker: $3500 (in-person/hybrid)
Reflective space keeper: $1500 per session, sessions are 3 hours
In-person sessions at the DEI Day ranged:
90 - 120 minutes = avg of $1500 - $2000
half day = $3000 - $4500 (as part of a larger body of work)
full day = $6000-$7500 (which was split between two co-facilitators)

Thank you!
