Good morning,

We are excited to be partnering with Dr. Aspen to provide the following virtual presentations for faculty working in corrections education.

Wednesday April 17th at 1030-11:15 "Enhancing Student Learning"
Review the parts of the learning process and explore ways to enhance learning at each step, while recognizing the unique needs of students in the classroom.

Wednesday April 24th at 1030-1115 "Don't Forget! Improving Students Memory and Recall"
Review the different parts of the memory process and strategies students can use to improve. Will explore how these strategies align with some of the Universal Design Guidelines to increase accessibility to the learning environment.

Wednesday May 1st at 1030-1115 "Generating a Hypothesis: Your Role in the Assessment Process"
When a student is struggling in the classroom what does that mean exactly? In this session, we will talk about the referral question for psychological assessment, things that psychologists need to look at prior to making a diagnosis of a learning disability or ADHD, and how faculty can assist with the assessment process.

Dr. Kayce Aspen is a licensed psychologist and a Re-Entry Psychologist with the Education Services Division at Headquarters with the Department of Corrections. Prior to being in this role, she worked at the Monroe Correctional Complex for 5 years working in Mental Health. She has experience working with children and adolescents in a school setting and holds a bachelor's degree in Deaf Education. She holds a WA state residential teaching certificate in special education and an endorsement in Deaf Education. Additionally, Kayce has experience with teaching in a graduate school setting and experience teaching DBT skills in group settings to adults in a correctional setting. Kayce's professional interests include research, training, and development of programming.

Mark you calendars! We will send out the Zoom links in a separate email closer to the presentation date!

Best regards,

Chastity
