Below you will find information for the process of documenting Perkins purchased Gen2 laptops before they are sent to the vendor. I believe Hanan will be pulling a report to let you all know how many Perkins impacted laptops you all have.

Good morning,



We have received feedback from Andrew Johnson at the Department of Education/Office of Career and Technical Adult Education (OCTAE) about the Perkins-funded laptops.



Good news! Each college (and SBCTC) will just need to document the process to be in compliance and the rebate will not be an issue. The caveat is that Perkins may not be able to purchase laptops in the future since State funds will be used and could be considered supplanting.



Dept of Education/OCTAE stated that each college needs to document the situation and store it at the college.

Documentation needs to include:

  1.  Description of equipment (Gen II Securebook 5.0)
  2.  How many Perkins-funded laptops were impacted? Please email me the number as well.
  3.  What specifically happened to require the laptops to be destroyed?
  4.  Include any documentation provided by the vendor or Department of Corrections concerning this incident



If you do not have information about #3 and #4, please connect with Hanan. This documentation is for the college’s records and do not need to be sent to me. I will be creating similar documentation for SBCTC.
