<a href="https://www.federalregister.gov/documents/2025/05/16/2025-08593/rescinding-regulations-related-to-nondiscrimination-in-federally-assisted-programs-or-activities">
DOE is proposing new rules</a> that would encourage new construction and existing construction that is inaccessible to individuals with disabilities. This would
</span><span style="font-size:14.0pt;color:black">upend decades of reliance on established accessibility standards, creating conflicts with other statutory and regulatory standards. If these proposed rule changes are approved, the impact to the disability community
would be devastating. The Law Office of Lainey Feingold does a <a href="https://www.lflegal.com/2025/06/energy-department-rollback/">
good job explaining the ramifications</a>. </span><span style="font-size:14.0pt"><o:p></o:p></span></li></ol>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-left:.5in"><span style="font-size:14.0pt">DSSC, WAPED, CATO, and the E-Learning all expressed a desire to make an official comment in response to the proposed rule changes. The commenting period ends on June 16<sup>th</sup>.

sessions, there was also a strong desire expressed to craft a letter that can be sent through our governance structure and to campus leaders regarding concerns about delaying the updates to Title II of the ADA. DSSC, WAPED, CATO, and E-Learning Council will
collaborate on a letter that can be distributed. Representatives from each group will coordinate to write the letter together to ensure that when the letter is sent out from each one of our groups, the messaging is consistent. Please
