I want to make sure that you are aware of this and that the DOJ has now published the Notice of Proposed Rule Making (NPRM). We were expecting to see it in May this spring, but August is not shabby!

In any case, when OCR attorney Mary Lou Mobley presented at the Web Accessibility Learning Lab, she encouraged groups of people like committees or councils concerned with web accessibility to pay attention to these activities and consider coming together to submit comments. Perhaps we can discuss at today's meeting.

UPDATE: Justice Department Publishes Proposed Title II Rule to Strengthen Web and Mobile App Access for People with Disabilities

On August 3, 2023, the Department of Justice published a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRM) proposing to update the regulations for Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) to better ensure web and mobile app accessibility for people with disabilities. The Department is seeking public feedback on its proposal, which aims to clarify how State and local governments can meet their existing ADA obligations as their activities increasingly shift online.
